TrailerTalk: Terminator: Genisys (2015)

A franchise we all thought was dead but secretly wanted to come back to life was the Terminator series of films.

Then we were treated to an early Christmas present. Full of the action we're all accustomed to from the franchise, the Genisys trailer reintroduced us to the T-800 and what appeared to be the T-1000.

Think of Terminator: Salvation as this franchise's X3: The Last Stand and this, effectively as it's Days of Future Past.

The trailer is fairly straightforward, we're reintroduced to familiar characters, Sarah Connor, played by Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Jason Clarke as John Connor and Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising his role as an aged version of the T-800.

The opening of the trailer is reminiscent of Rise of The Machines; a wasteland populated with battling humans and robots. It's at the 0:24 second mark that things start to pick up. The brief shot of the bare T model is a not-so-subtle reminder that we're in Terminator territory.

It's really after this point we know we're in for something special. We're presented with shots of our beloved T-800, as well as a version of the T-1000 (played by Byung-hun Lee) which, again, are an evocative bunch of shots, reminding us of the well-casted Robert friggin' Patrick and how much we miss him.

Yes, we expected an obligatory "I'll be back", but damn, it wouldn't be the same without hearing that at least once.

Though we're expecting something T1000 times better than Salvation and that horrible CGI Arnie, we're definitely not expecting an Oscar winner, but it's definitely going to be worth the 12 year wait (since the last Schwarzenegger Terminator).
