Five of the most overrated films of all time

These are five films which I believe have been given too much credit than they're due. Don't get me wrong, a couple of these films of the list do have their plus points, and they're not all bad films. Just don't mistake this list for anything else; these films are great in their own right, they're just the biggest pieces of over hyped balls you'll ever see.

5. Slumdog Millionaire

When this film released, there was so much hubbub around it; Dev Patel this, and Jai Ho that. Don't get me wrong - performances were incredible, but really, there was nothing really iconic about this. At the end of the film, I was left with a "this is shit" feeling, but that's not saying the film was, it was just how I felt.

  1. The Hangover

Ahh, what to say about this. Probably the most overrated in this list, but not so high up, only because #1 is a kicker. Hangover is a film that delivered and deserved reasonable laughs, but to think that this was one of the most well-received films of recent times just boggles the mind. I can think of a number of films that were much funnier than this but didn't get as well a response as this. Then again, it's all a matter of opinion.

  1. Reservoir Dogs

WHAT? How is this on the list? Give me a chance to explain. Reservoir Dogs is not a bad film, it fact it's a great film. But to think that it's been classed as one of the greatest films of all time is something that I just can't figure out. It's a great film, it has an amazing concept, it's damn sure an influential-as-hell film, but it is not, by ANY stretch of the imagination one of the greatest. I don't get it. I just don't get it at all.

  1. Avatar

Alright, alright. One moment I'm praising this film then the other I'm trashing it? Yup. Overrated. I think I pretty much covered the main points of why this film is overrated in my  recent 're-review' of the film, you can check it out HERE.

  1. 2001: A Space Odyssey

This right here, is the grandaddy of overhypedom. Maybe it's because I'm a little too judgemental when it comes to film, or maybe it's just because this film was far too 'abstract' for me. Yes, it's open to interpretation, yes, it's been in countless 'overrated' lists, but it's deservedly so. It's visual annoyances are NOT what I would call entertaining. There were parts in the film I had actually enjoyed, but that was a total of about 20 minutes. This film was in space, and it certainly was odd...yssey.
