I must say, listening to this once through really, really takes me back, the entire soundtrack is Disney through and through. Some of the orchestral work on this is reminiscent of the Toy Story score, and it was really quite refreshing hearing something like this, although The Princess and The Frog isn't being released in the UK until February 5, it's quite an insightful album, it gave me a really good idea of how the film is going to be.
Ne-Yo's contribution to the album gave it a cool, modern twist, something which is pretty special I guess, for a pretty special film.
Anika Noni Rose, who plays 'Princess Tiana' in the film was a nice addition, in true Disney style, she had a voice which was delicate, yet powerful, and I thought it was really a nice listen.
In comparison to the past Princesses, she definitely deserves to 'join the ranks', and will be known for re-introducing the Disney Princess line-up to a new generation, and will also be known for being the first Black Princess, which was something I felt was LONG overdue. Kudos Disney.
8.5/10 for the album, could've used more pace, great first listen, would definitely listen to it again, brilliant accompaniment to the film.
